Third Thursday Taxpayers Toolkit Meeting

David Wolfe, Legislative Director, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association will be the keynote speaker.

We are proud to announce the next meeting of our next Third Thursday Taxpayer Toolkit meeting. On the third Thursday of each month we have keynote speakers and a forum for you, the taxpayer, to come together and take in as well as share information on specific tax issues and concerns. We invite you to learn with us, as we both strengthen tools that we, as your taxpayer association, can use to fight for and protect your rights and interests as Silicon Valley taxpayers.

David Wolfe has worked for five years with the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers' Association. In this capacity, he monitors the Legislature closely, writing position letters and testifying on hundreds of bills. At least ten of these would have severely undercut Propositions 13 and 218, the main priorities of the Association. His other responsibilities include writing a "Piglet" book detailing wasteful spending, fraud, and abuse in state and local government, putting together an annual Report Card for all 120 legislators, and contributing to the HJTA quarterly publication "Taxing Times." He has also worked on a variety of initiative campaigns including to defeat taxes and advocate for property rights. Having sat through hundreds of hours of budget hearings, he also can speak broadly on Sacramento’s spending habits.

Prior to joining HJTA, Wolfe spent a year in the State Capitol. He graduated from Sonoma State University in 2005 with a B.A. in History and a minor in Political Science.

A question-and-answer period will follow Mr. Wolfe's remarks.

The event is free for SVTA members, $10 for non-members, and $15 per non-member couple. There is no charge to lapsed members who renew their annual membership at the door, nor for people who join SVTA at the door.

We encourage members to come early and dine at Harry’s Hofbrau. Please deposit your dinner receipt in the bucket marked “SVTA” at the cashier’s desk. This will help to reduce our cost for use of the meeting facility.

All are welcome. We especially invite members of neighborhood associations and other community action organizations.
